Letter From Our President

Continuity of Values in Changing Times

The "Talent Economy" of 1995-2000 wreaked havoc throughout the business world as companies competed for exceptional leaders. Then in 2001, the roof fell in on several industries. Through the next four years the economy stumbled, then began to grow despite international conflicts and rising oil prices. By 2006 we were, according to a prediction by Warren Buffett, The Oracle of Omaha, poised for substantive growth. Since the end of 2007, the word "subprime" has been on everyone's lips. For some companies and industries, the subprime crisis has presented - and will continue to present - great challenges. And yet for others, this scenario will provide significant opportunities.

To say "The Times They Are A-Changin'" is an understatement. The question is, how does a company that advises major business organizations stay prepared and productive in this constantly changing environment?

To effectively address client needs, Raines International Inc. has developed a significant arsenal of capabilities, including the knowledge of an experienced consulting group, and the ability and mechanism to deliver as a recruiter. As consultant and advisor, we provide information and guidance on important issues including corporate and departmental structure, competition, availability of talent, and compensation. As recruiters, we have the reputation and resources to bring executive talent to an organization. This is accomplished by knowing the top talent or knowing those who can lead us to the top talent.

For more than 35 years, we have successfully provided both consultative and recruiting excellence to our clients, some of whom have been with us for more than two decades. Through sophisticated research and assessment, coupled with strong compensation negotiation skills, we are experienced in building companies from the CEO and COO level throughout an increasingly vast range of industries and functional areas.

While Raines International Inc. has grown from a "boutique" firm to one of the 40 largest executive search organizations in the United States, we have not lost track of the values upon which this company was founded. From Day One we strived for quality, and pursued a business philosophy of efficiency before it was "fashionable" to do so.

Perhaps the one tenet which has been most important is our belief in a responsibility to pursue the best "fit" for both our clients and candidates. We realize that our influence can have a monumental effect on candidate and client careers. That is a major responsibility, especially from social and ethical perspectives, and one which we do not take lightly.

We have never compromised our values to complete a search. Rather, we have increased our capabilities to perform each search to the utmost level of success. After 35 years as an executive search leader, we understand the importance of providing continuity of values, even in these changing times.

Sincerely,

Bruce R. Raines
